There are three 12 Volt models & three 24 volt models in the Towing Adaptor range. Simply select the chosen module below & install with the generic looms supplied. The internal electronics has been designed to be “virtually invisible” to the vehicle’s ECU. This ensures you can install these towing adaptors on almost every vehicle sold today.

TA200-12V-P & TA200-24V-P

Will operate with ALL vehicles. Use with trailer that runs either filament bulbs or LED lights & where vehicle runs filament bulbs. 12 Volt, 25 Amp (or 24 Volt, 15 Amp) Trailer Towing Module designed for newer vehicles that do test for blown brake & tail lights and vehicles that will detect any extra load being applied to the rear brakes, indicators, tail lights or stop lights. LEDs light very quickly & the “P” module contains specialised electronics to “hold out the fast test pulses” that are sent by the engine management system when testing for blown bulbs.

TA200-12V & TA200-24V

Always use when both trailer & vehicle run LED lights. 12 Volt, 25 Amp (or 24 Volt, 15 Amp) Trailer Towing Module designed for newer vehicles that will detect any extra load being applied to the rear brakes, indicators, tail lights or stop lights.

TA100-12V & TA100-24V

For older vehicles where trailer & vehicle both run filament bulbs. 12 Volt, 25 Amp (or 24 Volt, 15 Amp) Trailer Towing Module designed for older vehicles that do not test for blown brake or tail lights and do not detect a small increase in the load being applied to the rear brakes, indicators, tail lights or stop lights.

CARM INTERNATIONAL TOWING

ADAPTOR MODULES

Years ago, installers simply “piggy backed” the trailer lights onto the rear vehicle lights. The vehicle wires were thick & generally could take the extra current without any problems.

These days, vehicle looms are engineered to carry just the required current. This saves on manufacturing costs & vehicle weight. In addition, many vehicle management systems detect any increased current loadings. Should any anomalies be detected, the engine management light will come on & the vehicle may even shut some systems down if it detects a “short”.

To overcome this, towing adaptor modules are fitted in the vehicle’s boot. The inputs of these modules are connected to the various lights at the rear of the vehicle “tapping off just a very small current” to detect which lights are on. The module then switches the heavy load through heavy duty automotive relays from the battery to the trailer lights via the trailer power socket.
